Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero, directed by Boyd Kirkland, is a 1998 animated family action adventure. In the film, Dr. Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze (Michael Ansara) is a mad scientist living in Antarctica with his wife, who is living in a frozen state. When an accident occurs and his home is destroyed, Mr. Freeze flees to Gotham City to look for help. Once in Gotham City, Mr. Freeze realizes his only opportunity to save his wife is if he can find her a willing or unwilling heart donor. Bruce Wayne/Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Richard Grayson/Robin (Loren Lester) are busy keeping the citizens of Gotham City safe from danger when Mr. Freeze arrives. His presence puts a great deal of stress on the superheros, and an even bigger stress is created when Barbara Gordon/Batgirl goes missing. Is her disappearance a trap to lure Batman and Robin to danger, or is her disappearance something more sinister?
