Battle Beyond the Sun is a science fiction film originally released in Soviet Russia in 1959 and directed by Mikhail Karyukov and Aleksander Kozyr. It was distributed in the United States and edited to appeal to an American audience by a then-young film student Francis Ford Coppola. In this spectacular and visually thrilling film, two nations are pitted against each other to reach Mars first. These two warring nations apparently want to beat the other to Mars in order to create and dominate a whole new world. In an ironic and hilarious turn of events, they instead get turned around while they are a billion light-years away from the Earth and eventually get horribly lost. To make matters worse, they finally arrive somewhere only to find themselves in a weird store where space monsters are fighting each other for eternity. The stars of this outer space adventure are Dr. Andrew Gordon (Ivan Perevernez) and Craig Matthews (Aleksander Shvroin).
