PG-13
Be Kind Rewind is a comedy film made by Michel Gondry in 2008. Jerry Mclean (Jack Black) is a 30-something-year-old man with a big imagination but little motivation. One day, as he is walking to Mr. Fletcher's (Danny Glover) video rental store called "Be Kind Rewind" to meet up with his friend Mike (Mos Def), he unexpectedly electrocutes his entire body and becomes magnetized. Jerry, being a bit of a klutz, waltzes into Be Kind Rewind anyway and, in doing so, accidentally erases all of the content on all of the videos due to his magnetization. It is not long before Mike discovers that all of the videos have been erased. To make matters worse, old lady Miss Falewicz (Mia Farrow) stops by and wants to watch Ghostbusters. Mike is fearful of what Mr. Fletcher will do once he hears his videos have been rendered useless, so he and Jerry devise a plan to satisfy the store's customers: they set out to re-film each movie each customer asks for, using themselves as actors, and using very minimal props. Will Jerry and Mike be able to satisfy their customers using this method? And can they hide the video catastrophe from Mr. Fletcher? Be sure to catch this one-of-a-kind comedy!moreless

In its sweet, lackadaisical way, Michel Gondry's Be Kind Rewind illuminates the pleasures and paradoxes of movie love.

It's a quick trip from whimsy to silliness in Be Kind Rewind, a notably ephemeral work by Michel Gondry, whose flights of fancy can't overcome the egregious illogic of the premise.
