Beach Ball is a surf rock comedy straight out of the Age of Aquarius. Dick Martin (Edd Byrnes) is ready to give up on his dream of becoming the leader of a successful rock and roll band. His latest scheme, getting a grant through a little known loophole, backfires as the committee in charge finds out about some less than truthful information about the group. When a hot rod show comes to town, Martin realizes there is one other way to get his musical act in the spotlight. Martin's band, The Wigglers, play the show in drag, but that turns out to be only one of many surprises in this 1965 film. Directed by Lennie Weinrib, this Paramount Pictures production also features guest appearances by Diana Ross and The Supremes, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons and Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers.
