Beautiful Creatures is a 2000 crime comedy directed by Bill Eagles. Dorothy (Susan Lynch) and Petula (Rachel Weisz) both live in rainy Glasglow, dreaming of better lives. Although beautiful and full of promise, both women waste their time with abusive, uncaring boyfriends. One night, Dorothy comes across Petula and her boyfriend, Brian (Tom Mannion), on an otherwise empty street. When she realizes that Brian is hurting Petula, Dorothy flies into action. She attacks Brian, but does not have a realistic view of her own strength. In a blind panic, Dorothy hits Brian over the head with a metal pipe. As the two women slowly realize that Brian is dead, they also realize that they are now involved in a life of crime, whether they like it or not. Forming a quick bond, Dorothy and Petula set about hiding the death, assuming that nobody will believe Dorothy when she says it was a self-defensive move. Having to deal with Brian's brother, Ronnie (Maurice Ro''ves), and Dorothy's boyfriend (Iain Glen) makes everything more complicated.moreless
