Director:
Michael Lehmann
Released:
2007
Rating:
PG-13
Because I Said So is a 2007 romantic comedy film by Michael Lehmann, starring Diane Keaton, Mandy Moore, Lauren Graham, Piper Perabo, and Stephen Collins in its star-studded cast. Daphne Wilder is the proud, overprotective, meddling mother of three very different daughters: the stable psychologist Maggie, the sexy and irreverent Mae, and the insecure but sweet Milly. Maggie and Mae are both happily married, but Milly is still single and still attracting all kinds of unfortunate date options. Daphne decides to help out by setting set her up with the perfect man. Milly does not know, however, that Daphne has placed online advertisements for this man and when Milly starts falling for a different guy, things get a little complicated. The two butt heads more than once in this fun, sweet romantic comedy about family and love of all varieties. Because I Said So received a nomination for a 2008 Razzie Award for Diane Keaton’s performance.

An exercise in canned cuteness, Because I Said So pushes its normally appealing stars, Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore, over the edge of sitcom hysteria.

Not so much phoned in as it is auto-dialed with a text-to-speech prerecorded message in one of those creepy robotic voices.
