Bedazzled is a story that has had many permutations throughout history; the devil comes to Earth to tempt man into giving him his soul. The man, in this case, is Stanley Moon (Dudley Moore), who is not satisfied with his life. He is a cook at a restaurant and has a crush on one of the waitresses, Margaret (Eleanor Bron), but she doesn't know of Stanley's feelings and he is too shy to reveal them. Caught up in despair, Stanley tries to kill himself, but he is interrupted by the Devil (Peter Cook). He has a proposal for Stanley; in return for Stanley's soul, the Devil will grant him seven wishes. The proposal is accepted and Stanley proceeds to wish himself into scenarios that will help him win the affection of Margaret. Stanley doesn't specify every detail of every wish and the Devil takes full advantage, adding his own details that will ensure that Stanley's wish fails. A clever look at a classic theme, Bedazzled will have you rooting for Stanley Moon in his battle against the Devil.
