Belle Of The Yukon is a musical western about a con man that travels north to try to make a fresh start of life. "Honest" John Calhoun (Randolph Scott) is anything but. Fresh off his scheme of building a fake bank to siphon the funds of various Canadian gold miners, this shyster has left everyone and everything behind and traveled all the way north to Malamute, Alaska, this time building a legitimate nightclub and gambling hall. When his former lover, Belle De Valle, (Gypsy Rose Lee) makes an appearance once day, she is initially angry at seeing the man who ditched her when he left, but seeing his reformed ways proves to be quite enticing to the traveling dancer. Belle tries to work her way back into Calhoun's heart, but when bubbling songstress Lettie Candless (Dinah Shore) sets her sights on him as well, trouble may be brewing up north. William A. Seiter directs this light hearted affair, full of memorable song and dance numbers.moreless
