Bent is a 1997 holocaust drama starring Clive Owens as a gay prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp, based on the play by Martin Sherman. The film opens with Max (Clive Owen) and his boyfriend, Rudy (Brian Webber) attending a wild nightclub hosted by Greta (Mick Jagger), a flamboyant transvestite. Max picks up a young soldier for a one-night stand, but Nazi officers break into the apartment and kill the soldier for being homosexual. It is "The Night of the Long Knives" and the Nazi regime are purging their ranks of gay soldiers and sending others to concentration camps. Max and Rudy soon find themselves herded into a cattle car headed to Dachau. Max disguises himself as a Jewish prisoner with a yellow star and not the pink star signifying homosexuality. Another prisoner, Horst (Lothaire Bluteau), gives Max some advice on how to survive within the Nazi rules and the two men form a bond within the realm of their insane circumstances.moreless
