Beowulf is a futuristic adaptation of the classic and often retold Old English epic poem of the same name, starring Christopher Lambert of "Highlander" fame in the titular role. The setting is an unspecified futuristic feudal society, plagued by a lethal entity known as Grendel (Vincent Hammond). After saving Pendra (Patricia Vel''squez) in the countryside, Beowulf comes across a nearby castle and fights his way through its wary inhabitants, who are distrustful of any outsiders because of Grendel's terrorization. He reaches the King (Oliver Cotton) and offers his aid in defeating the monster. Before their initial confrontation, Beowulf learns more about the castle's residents and the murky history that may explain Grendel's presence and evildoing. Eventually the nomadic warrior and the demonic creature cross paths and an explosive, climactic battle ensues. Also starring Rhona Mitra and G''tz Otto, Beowulf is a creative science fiction/fantasy take on one of the classic action-adventure stories in literature.
