Berlin Blues is a 1988 German drama that was directed by Ricardo Franco. The film takes place in West Berlin during the era of the Cold War. Lola, an American blues singer in a nightclub band (played by Julia Migenes-Johnson) has fallen for the piano player David (played by Jose Coronado). However David and Lola's romance is cut short when David has to return to his native East Berlin and Lola starts having an affair with the orchestra conductor Professor Huessler (played by Keith Baxter). Professor Huessler is the one who sent David back to East Berlin. Yet whatever guilt Lola felt about betraying David is stopped when Huessler helps her find a jod in an opera company when the club she sang in gets shut down after an American GI got stabbed to death there.
