Betrayed is a 1988 suspense thriller starring Debra Winger as an FBI agent caught between the personal and professional demands of her job. After the assassination of a talk show host by a domestic terrorist group known as Zionist Occupied Government, agent Catherine Phillips (Debra Winger) goes undercover at the farm of the prime suspect, Gary Simmons (Tom Berenger). The widower lives with his mother, Gladys (Betsy Blair) and two young children. As Catherine grows close to the family, she becomes convinced he is innocent of the crime and reports back to her boss, Mike Carnes (John Heard), that he needs to look elsewhere for the murderer. The two begin a romance and Gary proposes marriage, but wants her to know everything about him. He reveals his connection to the terrorist group and now Catherine faces a horrible dilemma, whether to betray the man she loves or the government she has loyally served.
