Bickford Schmeckler's Cool Ideas is an American independent film comedy from 2006. The film follows Bickford Schmeckler (Patrick Fugit), a smart but shy college freshman who records his many amazing ideas in his journal. Though the notebook is his most prized possession, Schmeckler brings it everywhere, even social gatherings. At a toga party, a curious sorority girl Sarah (Olivia Wilde) steals it. When she reads the notebook, Sarah finds herself captivated by Schmeckler's ideas and philosophies. She, and campus weirdo Spaceman (Matthew Lillard), decide that Schmeckler's cool ideas should be read by everyone as the book is passed around campus. Forced from his anonymity, Schmeckler must track down his notebook and face the campus community that are enthralled with his ideas, including the very attractive Sarah. Bickford Schmeckler's Cool Ideas is a sweet and funny film from first-time writer-director Scott Lew about how tragedy can turn to triumph and new possibilities.moreless
