Movie Summary

Dennis Dugan

Slacker Sonny Kaufax is perfectly content to live in a messy bachelor pad and to avoid working at all costs. After his girlfriend Vanessa leaves him due to his irresponsible behavior, a little boy named Julian shows up with a handwritten letter at the front door of Sonny's apartment. While reading the letter, Sonny learns that Julian is the son of his roommate Kevin, who does not even realize that he fathered the boy. Since Kevin is on a business trip in China, Sonny decides to take care of Julian rather than sending him to foster care. Sonny teaches Julian his own irresponsible ways at first, letting him gorge on food and pick out wacky clothes. But as he begins to view Julian as his own son, Sonny starts to realize that the boy needs to learn healthier behaviors. When Social Services suddenly takes Julian away, Sonny must fight to prove that he has changed his ways and can be a good father to the boy.
