Blanche Fury is a 1948 drama film directed by Marc Allegret. The film is centered on the story of Blanche Fury (Valerie Hobson). Blanche was willed very little wealth by her socially prominent parents when they died. She is left with no other options but to work in other people's homes as a domestic servant. However, this all changes when she is contacted by wealthy uncle Simon Fury (Walter Fitzgerald) and invited to serve as a governess for his granddaughter, Lavinia (Suzanne Gibbs). She accepts the invitation and travels to the estate. She meets Philip Thorn (Stewart Granger) upon her arrival and he tells her the story of the ghost that has protected the Fury family since the family's founder died in battle. Blanche soon chooses to marry her cousin, Laurence Fury (Michael Gough), but also has an affair with Philip. Philip grows possessive of her and sets in motion a series of events that force Blanche question her family's legacy.moreless
