Blood Feud, or Fatto di sangue fra due uomini per causa di una vedova - si sospettano moventi politici is a 1978 drama starring Sophia Loren, Marcello Mastroianni and Giancarlo Giannini. The film was written and directed by Academy Award winning director Lina Wertmuller. Titina Paterno (Sophia Loren), a beautiful Sicilian woman grieves the death of her husband who was hit by the Sicilian mafia. She is convinced right-winged politician Vito Acicatena is responsible for the crime, and seeks vengeance in her own, inconspicuous way. But her plans become muddled when she is pursued by a leftist named Rosario Spallone (Marcello Mastroianni), who falls totally in love with her at first sight. At first, Titina repels his advances, but after realizing how much he loves her, she gives in. Things become even more entangled when American-Italian mobster Nicola Sanmichele (Giancarlo Giannini) pursues Titina as well. It is not long before the trio find themselves heavily engaged in a love triangle and a plot to kill Vito Acicatena. Blood Feud illustrates the strong, raw emotion behind the seemingly "simple people" of Sicily. Be sure to catch Blood Feud if you are into Italian cinema.moreless
