Blown Away is a 1994 action film directed by Stephen Hopkins. The movie is centered around the stories of Irish international terrorist Ryan Gaerity (Tommy Lee Jones) and Lieutenant Jimmy Dove of the Boston Police Department. Blown Away opens with Gaerity escaping from prison in the United Kingdom, he sets out soon after for the United States of America where he plans to get revenge on his old partner. Lt. Dove is a hotshot member of the Boston Police Department's Bomb Squad where he is known for his reckless, but courageous, actions. However, it is quickly revealed that he has a dark past known only to his uncle Max (Lloyd Bridges). Dove is originally from Belfast, Ireland where his name was Liam McGivney and he worked with Gaerity. During an attempt to prevent Gaerity from killing many innocent people, Dove unintentionally causes him to kill his girlfriend and then be apprehended by the authorities. Blown Away quickly becomes an explosive battle between two bomb experts.moreless
