Blue Montana Skies is a 1939 Western/Mystery film. The film follows the adventures of the fictional cowboy, Gene Autry (Gene Autry). The conflict begins when Autry's business partner, Steve (Tully Marshall) is cruelly deprived of his life for nothing more than money by a ruthless gang of fur smugglers who have respect for no one but themselves. Autry vows to avenge the death of his partner and friend and sets out with the company of an empty stomach and a head full of spite to prevent the smugglers from doing further harm. When Autry finally tracks the fur smugglers responsible for his friend's death down at a small ranch, he finds he has become the critical part of the ranch's last line of defense against the gang of smugglers and their malicious leader Hendricks (Harry Woods). The conflict between these two unstoppable and opposing forces inevitably leads to a climactic confrontation of morals and justice.
