Blue Smoke is a 2007 romantic drama directed by David Carson. In the film, Reena Hale (Alicia Witt) has endured a great deal of pain in her life. When she was an 11-year-old, she watched her family business, Sirico's, burn to the ground. The fire investigator, John Minger (Scott Bakula), who investigated the fire deemed it an arson. John took interest in the young Reena and she idolized him. Reena grew up wanting to be just like John, and with his guidance as a mentor, she also became an arson investigator with the Baltimore Fire Department. Reena starts to gain experience in her field and wants to set down roots, so she returns to her old neighborhood to buy a home. Her new next door neighbor, Bo Goodnight (Matthew Settle), is a single, good-looking carpenter who is interested in Reena. Bo and Reena begin a romantic relationship when issues from her past come back to haunt her.
