BMX Bandits is an Australian adventure film featuring a young Nicole Kidman before her rise to stardom. The story opens when BMX bikers PJ (Angelo D'Angelo) and Goose (James Lugton) are in a freak accident at their local supermarket. Their bikes are totaled as a result and, with nothing else to do, they decide to go fishing with their friend Judy (Nicole Kidman). The teens set off for a lazy summer day but get more than they bargained for when they find a box full of illegal police radios. After a short debate, the three decide to sell the radios and use their earnings to purchase new bikes and BMX gear. It is a good thing they do, because the original thieves want their radios back and will stop at nothing to get them. Expertly filmed and choreographed BMX stunts help keep the action exciting and the bikers one step ahead of the murderous gang of thieves.

    The Guardian Luke Buckmaster

A feast of kitsch and gaudy colour, set to the tune of an 80s synth soundtrack, the film plays like a G-rated music video. And Trenchard-Smith maintaining a buzzing energy throughout.

Obviously made on a TV budget, the plot is weedy, and the film is saved only by some neat stunts and the splendour of the Australian landscape.
