Body and Soul (1999) is a modern tale of a young boxer who dreams of making it big on the ring. Despite the objections of his mother, Charlie (Ray Mancini) together with his manager, Tiny (Michael Chiklis), goes to Reno to try their luck of getting it big for the big-prized fights. They meet veteran trainer Johnny (Rod Steiger) who immediately recognizes Charlie's potential. Rod accepted Charlie to train under his tutelage. Since then, Charlie wins every fight and becomes popular with the audience. Charlie's fights catch the attention of a corrupt and shady promoter, Robert (Joe Mantegna), who offers Charlie to have a shot at the world title if he would only accept his terms. Charlie, who does not want to lose the opportunity, accepts the offer. He then gets himself caught in the dirty and corrupt world of boxing for a shot of becoming the World's Welterweight Boxing Champion.
