Body Melt is an Australian comedic splatter-horror film from 1993 directed by Philip Brophy. The residents of Pebbles Court, Homesville, are the unsuspecting test subjects of a nefarious corporation, Vimuville. The unethical owner of a health resort, Shaan (Regina Gaigalas), is distributing his new line of revolutionary dietary supplement through the town's mailboxes. Her assistant, Dr. Carrera (Ian Smith), is wary of distributing these pills without proper medical testing, but Shaan is eager to make millions off a perceived quick-fit solution. Unfortunately, it becomes evident the pills have horrific side effects, beginning with violent hallucinations and ultimately producing abominable mutations throughout the townsfolk. Detective Sam Phillips (Gerard Kennedy) struggles to unravel the mystery behind a sequence of horrific murders even as the entire town is slowly transformed into psychopathic monsters. Before long, the few humans remaining face a struggle to survive and escape the horrific onslaught of monstrous creatures. An excessively exuberant and gory horror romp, Body Melt also contains within a sharp satire about health crazes, and the horrific steps people will take for the "quick fix" and the "quick buck".
