When the two men kill his partner after the exchange takes place, Mercer learns the true scope of the gangsters' plan and vows to get revenge. Red and Ronnie, in a rush to pay off various debts and enjoy the good life outside of prison, go on a crime spree throughout the city. Meanwhile, Mercer learns that as a result of his partner's death, the Department is transferring him to its Newark, New Jersey office. Now, Mercer has just seven days to catch the killers and to avenge his partner's death.
