Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace is a 2000 docudrama centered around the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer - a German clergyman who revolted against the Nazis during World War II. The film is an adaptation of Bonhoeffer's "Letters and Papers from Prison", which he wrote during 1943-1945 when he was imprisoned by the Nazis. When Adolf Hitler came to power in 1930, most of the German people followed his philosophies blindly. They feared what might happen to them should they rise against his radical ideas. German Lutheran minister Dietrich Bonhoeffer (Ulrich Tukur), however, did not cave under Hitler's power. It was not that he opposed his views in silence - he actively spoke out against them. Although Bonhoeffer ultimately lost his battle against Hitler one month before the end of the war, he went down in history as a heroic martyr for his cause. Co-stars include Johanna Klante, and Robert Joy. Eric Till directs.
