Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi is a coming-of-age drama from Israel that shows how love can sometimes get in the way of your dreams. Shlomi (Oshri Cohen) is 16 years old and dates his neighbor Tehila (Rotem Zisman). He also lives with his mother (Eisti Zakhaim), a divorced nurse who is angry at the world because Shlomi's dad (Albert Illouz), cheated on her and left her to support the family. His enlisted snobby brother (Yonatan Rozen) and senile funny old grandfather (Arie Ellias) make up the rest of this household, who all treat Shlomi as if he were invisible. The teenager takes care of everyone at home, since his mom works all day. His teachers do not notice him at school and he does only the minimum to pass each day, so he can quickly head home to do his chores. Shlomi never complains about his complex life, and he does everything out of love. New headmaster (Yigal Naor) soon discovers the invisible boy is a genius after his math teacher (Hilla Sarjon) jokingly tests Shlomi with an impossible problem that he easily solves. The school offers him a chance to study with gifted students in Haifa, and Shlomi finds out that deciding between accepting a chance of a lifetime and abandoning everything that he loves is not an easy decision.moreless
