Book of Love (2002), also known as Book of Love: The Definitive Reason Why Men Are Dogs, is a mockumentary-style romantic comedy written, produced and directed by Jeffrey W. Byrd. This passionate and true-to-life film views the problems of romantic relationships from all angles and has moments of deep thought mixed in with its comedic elements. Set in Los Angeles, California during the '90s, the story focuses on the lives of three single bachelors. Will Hart (Eric K. George), Jay Black (Anthony "Treach" Criss, from the rap group Naughty By Nature) and Ben Strong (Richard T. Jones) are attempting to recover from a series of unhealthy relationships and are searching for true love and fulfillment. The men don't stand a chance against their manipulative, self-serving girlfriends Karen (Salli Richardson), Lyah (Mari Morrow) and Lyanna (Robin Givens). The movie shows that it is the poor treatment they receive from their girlfriends that causes the men to act like "dogs". Book of Love was produced by BET Studios and 5th Gear Entertainment.moreless
