Booky Makes Her Mark is a heart-warming story about a fifteen year old girl named Booky (Tatiana Maslany) who lives in Toronto during the Great Depression. Her parents, barely able to support their family, face hard times. Encouraged by her English teacher, Mr. Jackson (Steven McCarthy), Booky aspires to be a writer, thinking hard work and determination will pay off. Her hero, Lucy Maud Montgomery (Lally Cadeau), a famous writer, gives Booky some advice, which ends up almost breaking her spirit. Facing a bout of bronchitis, Booky must stay at her Aunt Aggie's (Roberta Maxwell) farm to get better. After healing up, Booky returns to Toronto to lead a normal life. This includes starting a Deanna Durbin fan club with her friends, celebrating her sixteenth birthday and falling for an older boy by the name of Lorne (Mike Lobel). Determined not to let anything stop her from pursuing her dreams, she decides to enter a local newspaper contest, the results of which change her life.moreless
