Borderland, which was part of the 2007 After Dark Horrorfest, is an independent horror movie written and directed by Zev Berman. It is based on the true story of Mark Kilroy, a University of Texas student who was murdered in Matamoros, Mexico in 1989. In order to celebrate their graduation from college, Texas college students Ed (Brian Presley), Henry (Jake Muxworthy) and Phil (Rider Strong) head across the border into Mexico to spend a week drinking cheep beer and going to strip clubs. When they arrive, the men befriend local bartender Valeria (Martha Higareda) and her cousin Lupe (Francesca Guillen), while virginal Phil falls in love with a local prostitute. The group of young people decide to go to a local carnival together, but Phil decides to leave before the others. As he is walking alone on an isolated street, he is kidnapped by a cult of Devil-worshipping drug smugglers. With Phil held captive, it is up to Mexican police officer Ulises (Damian Alcazar) and Phil's friends to put a stop to the cult's sinister plans.moreless
