Bordertown Gunfighters is a 1943 Western starring "Wild" Bill Elliott as himself in the classic cowboy role. Cameo Shelby (Ian Keith) is running an illegal and fixed lottery out of El Paso, cheating poor Mexican immigrants out of their hard-earned money while promising big returns. When word of the trouble gets out, Wild Bill Elliott is sent in undercover to get to the bottom of things. Joined by sidekick George "Gabby" Hayes (himself), Wild Bill investigates Shelby's organization. In addition to evildoing, Wild Bill finds romance with the beautiful Anita Shelby (Anne Jeffries), Cameo's niece. Meanwhile, the villainous Shelby continues bilking his innocent victims and, when he discovers Wild Bill is on the case, he resorts to murderous measures to put Wild Bill out of commission. To the swindler's chagrin, Wild Bill Elliott can't be stopped so easily and he continues his work to turn the tables on the crooked fiend.
