Born to Be Bad is a 1934 romantic drama directed by Lowell Sherman. Letty Strong (Loretta Young) has her son Mickey (Jackie Kelk) when she is only 15 years old, unmarried, and living on the streets. She has to lie and steal to make her way in the world, and she teaches Mickey to do the same things as he grows up. One day, Malcolm Trevor (Cary Grant), the wealthy owner of a milk company, hits Mickey with his delivery truck. Letty greedily tells Mickey to lie about how badly he is hurt so that they can get a large settlement. Unfortunately for Letty, the judge uncovers her scheme and rules that Letty is an unfit mother. Malcom and his wife, Alyce (Marion Burns), take Mickey into their home and become loving adoptive parents. With the help of an unscrupulous attorney, Letty then concocts a new plan to get both her son and the money. As she sees how happy her son is with Malcolm and Alyce, she must decide whether it is more important to become rich or to tell let her son have the good life that he deserves.moreless
