Born Wild is a 1960s coming of age film, also released as "The Young Animals". It takes place in a small Arizona town where racism and bigotry are rampant and out of control. White kids bully the Mexican-American school children mercilessly and the parents and officials simply look the other way. The film begins with a young couple walking quietly along the street. They are assaulted by a gang of white high school kids. They beat the boy senseless and proceed to rape the girl. When the boy comes to, he reports the case to the police, but the officers just laugh at him and tell him to go home. A newly transferred student, Tony (Tom Nardini) begins attending the high school, completely unaware of the racism and violence. He falls in love with Janet (Patty McCormick), but his new friends discourage him and explain that since Janet is white, their relationship could never work. Faced with this, Tony has to decide if love means enough for him to stand up and change the way things are in this old town.
