Brimstone is the 1949 classic Western directed by Joseph Kane and starring Rod Cameron, Lorna Gray, Walter Brennan, Forrest Tucker, and Jack Holt. An angry old rancher, Brimstone Pop Courteen (Walter Brennan), decides to take on an entire town full of homesteaders who want to claim a piece of land for themselves and begin to settle down. Why Brimstone is so oppositional is never clear. He's just nasty to the core, and he intends to take it out on these settlers. Worse still, he brings along his equally corrupt sons, and together they work to undermine the pioneers. They capture and ruin as many of the newcomer's stagecoaches as they can get their hands on. However, one of Brimstone's sons, Bud Courteen (James Brown), doesn't see eye to eye with his father. The two of them fall into disagreement as Bud finds himself charmed with one of the new visitors. Brimstone follows a villain and leaves the viewers cheering for the victims.moreless
