Broken English, the romantic comedy written and directed by Zoe Cassavetes, was released in 2007. It is the story of Nora Wilder (Parker Posey) a young career woman who is beginning to panic because she feels life passing her by. Her friends have all married, started having children, but she is in her 30s, alone and working at a job that she is good at, but has outgrown. Her overbearing mother (Gena Rowlands) and well meaning, but misguided, best friend (Drea de Matteo) are constantly trying to set her up with the wrong men, leading Nora to doubt that she will ever find love. When she unexpectedly meets Julien (Melvil Poupaud), an eccentric but attractive Frenchman she cannot deny the chemistry that crackles between then. When Julien is suddenly called back to France, Nora will have to decide if what she feels for him is worth taking a chance and tracking him across two continents.
