Set in the late 1890's, AMC's first original movie tells the story of Prentice "Print" Ritter, a cowboy making his last big horse run before settling down on a ranch of his own. Print and his nephew, Tom Harte, begin their journey expecting nothing out of the ordinary, but end up rescuing five young Chinese girls from the human trafficker who would sell them into a life of slavery. Now the two, along with companions they pick up along the way, must protect the girls from danger as they steer their herd from Oregon to Wyoming.

It had great casting and wonderful acting for Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church.
  • This is a new kind of Western TV movie.

During the year 1897, Chinese women were brought America to live a life of slavery. Five such young Chinese girls were bought and assumed that would be their life. Then, they were given a new life by Prentice Ritter and his nephew Tom Harte, who are herding a bunch of horses from Oregon to Wyoming. Print and Tom are estranged due to familial reasons and Print sees this as a way to make good with Tom. While on the trail, we see how problems were handled in the Old West. Some in worse ways than others. We see the men bond with the girls and pick up new companions and new enemies while on the trail. This is a pretty new take on life in the Old West. I don't watch many Westerns but I liked this one very much. The Chinese girls make the story a little more interesting.moreless
