Buckskin is a true blue American western film. It centers around a small Montana frontier town where land baron Rep Marlowe (Wendell Corey) has just moved. When he gets settled in his new house, he realizes that there are many homesteaders also settling on his property. In order to force out all the homesteaders, he decides to dam the river. When Marshal Chaddock (Barry Sullivan) finds out what the new guy in town is doing, he grows furious and begins to fight Marlowe's efforts. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a lot of support from the rest of the community and his efforts start to fail. The townspeople are siding with Rep Marlowe. Just as he is getting his second wind to fight Marlowe, he is tragically bitten by a snake. While he is in bed recovering, Marlowe hatches a brand new plan. Instead of damming the river, he decides that he would rather gun down Marshal Chaddock so that he can live peacefully on his land.moreless
