Buffet Froid is a witty French film that follows three separate characters in their messed up lives. It is a dark comedy about loneliness and the dehumanization of the world today. The first man that the movie introduces is Alphonse Tram (Gerard Depardieu). Alphonse is an unemployed man who is searching for himself in the suburbs of Paris. His wife was recently murdered and he still hasn't gotten over her death. The second man is Morvandieu (Bernard Blier). He is a police chief-inspector, who also happens to be Alphonse's neighbor. The two men are friends of sorts, and begin to get to know each other as the film unfolds. The third and final character is introduced as 'the murderer' (Jean Carmet). This man is the murderer that killed Alphonse's wife. The three men form an odd group of friends, each one not knowing everything about the other. As the movie unfolds they all must learn to deal with each other's shortcomings.moreless
