Bulworth is a satirical American political comedy loosely based on the life of John Jay Hooker. Incumbent California Senator Jay Billington Bulworth (Warren Beatty) is out of touch with contemporary voters. His outdated Vietnam-era liberalism is rapidly tanking his campaign for re-election, and after days of sleep deprivation on the campaign trail Senator Bulworth teeters on the edge of insanity. Convinced that he will lose the election, Bulworth fixates on leaving his daughter with a valuable inheritance, takes out a $10 million life insurance policy on himself, and hires an assassin to kill him in two days time. With nothing to lose, Bulworth lets loose on the campaign trail, drinking to excess and finally speaking frankly about political questions. Bulworth's new approach to politics is causing an uproar, and his campaign staff notice something strange is happening - the Senator is up in the polls. Bulworth commits himself to his reinvigorated campaign, but the hired assassin is still hot on his trail. Can the Senator survive long enough to cancel the hit?moreless
