Buried Alive is a 1990 film adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's horror story of the same name. The film centers around Ravenscroft School, a private school for troubled girls that has a history of mysterious disappearances. Robert Vaughn plays Dr. Gary Julian, the director of Ravenscroft. The school used to be an insane asylum run by Gary's father. Since Gary took over, the school has earned a reputation for turning girls with social problems into upstanding individuals. Janet Pendleton, a young science teacher and an avid fan of Dr. Julian's lectures, moves to the school to join the faculty. As soon as she arrives, she begins witnessing bizarre events at the school. When she begins investigating the girls who supposedly ran away from the school, she gets dangerously close to uncovering the dark secrets that lay buried beneath Ravenscroft's foundation.
