Burning Down the House is a 2001 black comedy about a wanna-be movie mogul who will do anything to get his next picture on the big screen. The filmmaker, Jake Seiling (John Savage), has a vision that has yet to come to fruition. His biggest hit thus far is unfortunately the drunken punch he landed to the nose of one of Hollywood's top studio executives. Now strapped for cash, he soon teams up with a notorious B-movie con man/producer named Arnie Green (James Wilder). The duo come up with a plan to burn down Jake's house and use the insurance money to finance his film. What the two men do not know is that Jake's ex-girlfriend, fledgling actor Brenda Goodman (Joanne Baron), is able to witness and catch the scam on her Polaroid. Now, the men are forced to bribe the insurance investigator (who happens to be an actor as well) and also deal with Goodman, who intends on holding the men hostage until she gets a part in the movie.moreless
