Bustin' Down the Door is a documentary that analyzes the implications of change with respect to the sport of surfing. In 1975, a contingent of amateur surfers from Australia and South Africa travels to Hawaii with high hopes and ambitions for finding the perfect wave. In their travels, they manage to alter the face of the sport as a whole and progress it past a Rubicon from which there is no return. With narration by Edward Norton, this film analyzes the catalyst for change that caused surfing to explode as an international craze and blossom into an industry that is currently worth billions of dollars. Bustin' Down the Door also takes a look at the culture and social values of the time period, and takes them into account when analyzing the rapid transformation of the sport.
