Busting is a film centering on two street-tested Los Angeles vice detectives, Michael Keneely (Elliot Gould) and Patrick Farrel (Robert Blake). Keenly and Farrel are ill-content with their assigned case load of busting small time, petty criminals. Instead, ignoring direct and explicit orders, they take it upon themselves to pursue and bring down the large L.A. crime syndicate run by gangster boss, Carl Rizzo (Allen Garfield). These rogue detectives begin to discover that the fight goes deeper than the perceived bad guys and soon uncover the unimpeded political and criminal corruption overtaking the police department and the city. By exposing the political corruption, the film shines a cynical light on the seedy inner city workings of even the most trusted public officials. A predecessor to the 1980's buddy cop genre, the action and hard-nosed dialogue will not disappoint. Busting contains everything one could ask for in a gritty 1970's high action cop drama: high-speed chases, gun fights and plenty of bad guy beat downs.
