BUtterfield 8 is a 1960 romantic drama starring Elizabeth Taylor, Laurence Harvey, and Eddie Fisher. The film is based on a novel written by best-selling author John O'Hara. Daniel Mann directs. Gloria Wandrous (Elizabeth Taylor) is an outwardly confident and content model/call girl working in Manhattan's Upper East Side. One of her clients is a self-loathing business man named Weston Liggett (Laurence Harvey). After a series of nights spent together, Gloria becomes attracted to Weston's success and promising future - she ultimately falls for him. But Weston is engaged to be married, and is advised by a close friend to end his adulterous affair with Gloria. The only person Gloria can turn to is a friend named Stevie (Eddie Fisher). It is clear Gloria is, in actuality, an insecure and vulnerable woman. BUtterfield 8 is a rich story with lots of character development. Be sure to catch Elizabeth Taylor in her role as Gloria Wandrous, for which she earned an Academy Award for Best Actress.moreless
