Butterfly Man is a Thai-British 2002 film written and directed by Kaprice Kea. Adam (Stuart Laing), an English backpacking tourist, ventures to Thailand with his girlfriend only to break up with her as soon as they reach Bangkok. In his newfound life as a single man, Adam goes to the island of Ko Samui. While on the island Adam meets Em (Napakpapha M. Nakprasitte), a young, beautiful masseuse. Em has never been in a relationship before, and Adam has a history of moving quickly. When their innocent relationship proves not to fulfill Adam's needs, he becomes a "butterfly man," or a tourist who goes from bar to bar to sleep with various women. While living on the island, Adam sees a darker side to the economy, as he discovers a hidden prostitution ring. Also starring Francis Magee, Gavan O'Herlihy, Abigail Good, Vasa Vatcharayon, and Kirsty Mitchell, Butterfly Man is a romantic adventure film.
