Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride: Hunter S. Thompson On Film is a 2006 biographical documentary about the writer and celebrity. Thompson's unique journalism career and personal history resulted in a large circle of famous friends including the movie stars that played him, such as Johnny Depp in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and Bill Murray in "Where The Buffalo Roam." This esteemed circle that varies from Senator George McGovern to right-wing intellectual William F. Buckley recount Hunter's life story, with affectionate and often funny anecdotes. Thompson's wife, Anita, and son, Juan, describe the personal side of this celebrated figure who wrote about presidential campaigns, biker gangs and drug binges with a ferocious energy. His famous antics on the road led to films about his life and a number of Hollywood fans, including Sean Penn, John Cusack and even movie critic Leonard Maltin.
