Caged is a 1950 crime drama that was released by Warner Bros. and directed by John Cromwell, and produced by Jerry Wald. Pretty young woman, Marie Allen (Eleanor Parker), is sent to prison at 19 years of age for collaborating with her since-late husband in an armed robbery that fell through, leaving her a widow. During her initial prison physical, Marie finds that she is two months pregnant. Matron Evelyn Harper (Hope Emerson) sends Marie through hoops of indecent conduct and, because of Marie's mother's unwillingness to harbor the baby, forces her to put it up for adoption. Marie never sees her child again and must face the reality of her choices as she learns the cold and hardened ways of jail life. When she gets out, she herself is a hardened criminal, and must make the best of the new life she has been given by those that got her out.
