California Dreaming is a 1979 romantic comedy about the challenge of fitting in and the power of staying true to oneself. Young T.T. (Dennis Christopher) is tired of his bleak and lonely life in the Windy City. After hearing about the sunny charms of California, T.T. decides to change his life for the better and heads off for surf and sand. When he arrives at a tiny beach town, T.T. initially thinks he has found his nirvana. Soon, however, his awkwardness starts to show and T.T. worries he just isn't cool enough to overcome his Midwestern past. A veteran surfer, Duke (Seymour Cassel), takes pity on T.T. and invites him into his home as a proteg''. Duke's beautiful beach bunny daughter, Corky (Glynnis O'Connor), catches T.T.'s eye, but T.T. is soon distracted by his crash course in the surfer lifestyle. After a while, T.T. has to face up to the fact that California may not be the answer to all his problems, giving rise to important questions about life, identity and growing up.moreless
