California Rock is a compilation of the music coming out of California in the 1960s and 1970s. Southern California produced a sound all its own with songs that defined an era. There are twelve songs performed by seven artists, including Sonny and Cher singing 'The Beat Goes On", this was one of their many Top 40 singles. Linda Ronstadt performs her single, "Break My Mind" her style was folk rock, at this time she was touring with the Doors, Jackson Browne and Neil Young. The Mamas and The Papas sing their classic "California Dreaming". Written in 1965, the song went to Number 4 on the charts and within two short years The Mamas and The Papas performed together for the last time on the Ed Sullivan Show. Each performance clip is like a piece of history, and is sure to be enjoyed by people who remember the times and people who only learn of it in history books.
