Camille is a romantic film about the story of a woman in a love triangle. Marguerite Guatier (Greta Gorbo) is a French prostitute working in Paris under the name of Camille. She is deeply loved by Armand Duval (Robert Taylor), but wanted by Baron de Varville (Henry Daniell), the man who financially supports her the most. Though she has trouble resisting the Baron's wealth, her heart belongs to Armand. Monsieur Duval (Lionel Barrymore), Armand's father, pleads and begs with Camille not to get entangled with his son, for he's afraid her reputation will ruin his. Camille reluctantly agrees, but soon becomes deathly ill and loses the wealth she was receiving from the Baron. Even after her misfortunes and attempts to stay away, Armand still pursues Camille in hopes of marrying her, defying the wishes of his father. Will Armand and Camille live happily ever after, or will tragedy strike again?
