Canon City is a semi-documentary film that tells the tale of twelve men who are determined to escape the Colorado State Penitentiary in Canon City, Colorado. The film is based on a real escape that actually occurred there in 1947. James Sherbondy (Scott Brady) is the mastermind of the daring escape and he is the one who wants to get away the most. The weather adds to the story as the convicts fight the steep terrain in a snow storm in order to escape. However, they only make it a few miles toward the local town due to the fierce storm. This movie is filmed on location at the actual prison and in the surrounding area where the prison break took place.The warden Roy Best is the real warden from the original prison break. Roy and his men do their best to retrieve the men and round them back up, dead or alive.
