Rating:
PG-13
Cape of Good Hope is the first feature film by director and writer Mark Bamford. The film, written by Mark and his wife Suzanne Kay, was made in 2004 for tells the story of eight individuals and how their lives all intersect at an animal shelter in South Africa, which they all happen to work at. The film, above anything else, is about love, romance, and heartbreak. It is about the struggle to find love, keep it, and know when to let it go. Kate (Debbie Brown) runs the animal shelter and is caught in an affair with a married man. Little does she know, the local veterinarian Morne (Morne Visser) lusts for her love. The receptionist, Sharifa (Quanita Adams) is desperately trying to to have a child of her own and finally satisfy the void her husband feels towards her. The shelter handyman Jean Claude (Eriq Ebouaney) is struggling between his love for a certain single mother and the love of a woman necessary for him to emigrate into the South African culture. All in all, the film is a cluster of emotional drama constantly battling between individuals and employees. It's hardly the working atmosphere one could hope for' or is it. The film also stars Nthati Moshesh, David Isaacs, Kamo Masilo, and Nick Boraine. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was met with great success.moreless
